Golden Button – trust your friends, or press?

Every round shows a rule on the TV and gives everyone 10 seconds. Talk it over out loud, make promises – and then each player secretly decides whether to press the big button on their phone. Nobody sees who pressed until the reveal.

How to play

  1. Start the game: the TV explains the rules in four short lines.
  2. Each round shows its rule on the TV and on every phone: how many points nobody, one or several pressers get.
  3. Talk, negotiate and bluff out loud. Promises are allowed – keeping them is optional.
  4. When the 10-second countdown starts, press the button on your phone – or don’t. Pressing is final.
  5. The TV reveals how many pressed, who it was and everyone’s points, then the leaderboard.
  6. After 8 rounds the highest score wins; equal scores share the win. Play again with one tap.

What you need

  • A TV, computer or tablet with a browser – the shared screen.
  • A phone with a browser for every player.
  • An internet connection. Nothing to install.

Tips

  • In Trust rounds, one lone presser takes +300 – but two pressers both lose.
  • In Minority rounds, count the players: fewer than half must press to win.
  • Watch faces during the countdown. The quiet ones are the dangerous ones.

FAQ

Can anyone see who pressed before the reveal?

No. The TV and the other phones get no sign of a press until the countdown ends – not even how many pressed.

What if a phone disconnects during a round?

If that player had not pressed yet and is not back before the countdown ends, the round is cancelled for everyone and replayed with the same rule. Nobody scores in a cancelled round.

How many players and how long?

From 3 to 12 players, 8 rounds, about 5 minutes. Seven languages; every phone can show its own.
